P.E. Class

The children did a great job with Ms. Angotti’s obstacle course!  They practiced hopping, crawling, jumping, scooting,  and walking the tight rope.  I should have tried it myself!!

Apples

 September 26th is sometimes called Johnny Appleseed Day.  So we decided to celebrate him!   We tasted 3 different color apples and made a graph to show which one we liked the best.  We also made pot hats.  Johnny Appleseed was known for wearing a pot on his head as he traveled around planting appleseeds.

We continued discussing apples with our Scholastic My Big World Magazine. 

 Did you know apple seeds are also called pips?  

We ended the week by making applesauce.

We had mixed results when it came time to eat it.  Five children liked it and three children did not.

 

Humpty Dumpty Fun

This week we have been learning about ovals.  Since eggs are ovals, we are having fun with Humpty Dumpty activities.

First, we took turns pretending to be Humpty Dumpty as we recited the nursery rhyme.  There was a lot of laughter!

Then we decided to help put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

We thought maybe we could build a better wall.  Humpty Dumpty was able to sit on our walls without falling off! Yay!!

We have had so much fun!

Triangles

How well can you make or draw a triangle?  Look what we can do!
We created triangles with sticks, straws, and Q-tips.  Wow, aren’t we creative!

  

We also drew pictures in our sandboxes.

Our Special Classes

The children have been experiencing all kinds of fun is their special classes!

In art class, the children were using watercolor crayons.  They had to color the plate and then paint over it with water.  They are making parrots.  I can’t wait to see the finished masterpieces!

In P.E. Class, the children are practicing throwing and catching a ball.  If they caught the ball, they ran done to the other end of the gym to get a scarf to put in the bucket.  They are improving!

In music class, the children were listening to songs and following the directions.  Can you figure out what the directions were?
