Praying Mantises

We have seen several praying mantises this week.  Mr. James showed us one that was a brownish camouflage color.  At recess on Friday we saw 2.  One student found one climbing up a tree.  It looked green and brown.

Another student found one on the black border near the slides.  It was a bright green.

They are very interesting to watch!

A Fox and a Kit

This week the children read A Fox and a Kit.  The story talks about some of the things you might see wild foxes do if you go to the zoo.  The children used a pattern to make the fox and then had to add the kit themselves.

The Big Blue Ox

We read the story The Big Blue Ox.  In this story, the ox liked to help Mom and Pop.  The children had to finish my sentence starter and illustrate it.

Our Family Custom / Tradition Quilt

The children enjoyed sharing about one of their favorite family customs or traditions with our class.   They drew an illustration of it and mounted on construction paper.  The construction paper they chose represents their favorite color.  I love how it turned out!
