Hundreds Chart

We have been practicing identifying one more, one less, 10 more, and 10 less on a hundred chart.  I gave the children a pink stone and a blue stone.  I would ask them to place the pink stone on a given number.  Then I would tell them to place the blue stone on the number that is 1 more, 1 less, 10 more or 10 less.  I was try to help them see the patterns.  For example: 10 less means move up one row or10 more means go down one row instead of counting off the 10.

Snow Again?

We were out in the snow a couple of times today.  It starting snow while the children were in P.E. So, they played a little on the way back to the classroom.

Then it was snowing even hard at recess time. So, were bundled up and went out again.  They took black paper to try to catch some flakes to get a closer look.  They also found where a little more snow had accumulated around the playground equipment and the trees.
