During the season of Lent we are preparing ourselves for Easter. In religion class, we discussed that many times people choose to give up a favorite food or toy as a sign of sacrifice. We also talked about that instead we could choose to do more of something or stop doing something that we shouldn’t.
The children were asked to draw a picture and write about what they are going to give up, do more of, or stop doing during this Lenten season. Here are some pictures that show what they decided.
We celebrated Black History Month by learning about Ruby Bridges. I felt that the children related well to her because she was a first grade student when she helped end segregation in the south.
