1ST Basketball Game for the Girls
Yesterday I went to the first basketball game for St. Ann’s girls 1st and 2nd grade team. It was so fun to watch. Congratulations to them for their win over Saint Francis!
February - Black History Month - Ruby Bridges
In order to celebrate Black History Month, I introduced the children to Ruby Bridges. We read several books and watched a video to learn more about her. Ruby Bridges was first grader when she was part of the desegregation of school in Louisiana.
In January, we had learned about Martin Luther King Junior and how people were treated differently about the color of their skin. We continued this discussion and added the segregation of schools. We discusses how this would feel and how it is different today in our class. The books and videos explain what Ruby went through and how she prayed to God for those people treated her unkindly.
