Math - Matching numbers to sets

The children having been working with the numbers 0 through 7.  This week we practiced a couple of different ways.  First, I showed the children a number and they have to place that many astronaut counters in the moon.

On another day, I gave the children dice and a dry erase board.  The children rolled the dice and then practiced writing the number to match.

Working with numbers is fun!!

Buttoning

It is the time of year when we begin to wear sweaters and jackets.  So, I decided to make some button turkeys for the children to use during centers.  They can practice buttoning as well as making patterns with the colors of feathers they choose.

Hall of Saints

In preparation for All Saints’ Day, the 3rd grade students hosted the Hall of Saints.  We were invited to visit!  Each 3rd grader was dressed up as a saint and shared facts about that saint.  We heard many interesting facts about the lives of these saints!

Math - Numbers to 5

Today we had a lot of fun with the numbers up to 5.
We sang the song 5 Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree and took turns being the monkeys and the alligators.  The children were so funny!!

We also practiced the numbers with webs and “spiders”.  I wrote a number on the dry erase board.  The children had to identify the number and put that many “spiders” on their webs.
