Science - How can matter change?

This week in science we have been learning about the 3 states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.  Today we were talking about how matter can change.  One of the ways we discussed, was that solids can dissolve into liquids. So, we experimented by putting sprinkles, flour, pepper, noodles, and sugar into water to see if they  would dissolve.

On their paper was a chart. First, they had to guess what they thought would happen.  Then, I added the solids to the water and shook them.  Last,  we discussed what happened and marked the test column.  There was a lot of oohing and aahing.
