Today the children worked on an escape room cracking the code activity. The premise was that they were going to be locked in the school if they did not find all the keys and give them to the custodian. Throughout the game they had to crack the codes using a picture code cipher and a pigpen cipher.
Here are some examples of what they used the ciphers to solve.
They would then use the clues to find envelopes hidden around the room that would give them more clues.
Along the way they also answered questions about this school year: funniest thing that happened, the hardest thing, what they are most proud of, etc.
Once we found all the keys they had to cipher agin to find the location of the custodian.
It took about an hour and a half to complete and no one complain. We succeeded with minutes to spare!
In the envelopes with the clues and keys were certificates. After we escape, we worked as a team do decide which certificate each person would be given. Here are the results.
