Our 100th Day of School
On Friday, January 27th we celebrates our 100th day of school! We had a small food tasting celebration with Ms. O’s 1st grade class. Since our story this week was Where Does Food Come From? We decided to combine the two things. I made applesauce. Ms. O made popcorn because the story talked about corn being a grain. And Ximena brought chocolate chip cookies. The story talked about chocolate coming from cocoa beans. Before we ate, Addalyn and Eva read a short play called Popcorn’s Story. We had so much fun. Happy 100th Day!
The children played a dice game called Race to 100.
We had a great day!!!
Where Does Food Come From? - Crockpot Applesauce
Our story for the week was Where Does Food Come From?. In the story it talks about that we get apple juice from pressing apples. One of the children asked where applesauce comes from. I decided to show them by making crockpot applesauce. I made it on Thursday.

Math - 10 more/10 less & 1more/1 less
Today we practiced identifying 1 more/ 1 less and 10 more/10 less on a large 120 chart. The children would roll 2 dice. The 1st one was the tens number and the 2nd one was the ones number. The children would then find that number on the 120 chart, and place a green frame around it. Then, they would roll the orange die that would tell them what they had to find and mark with the purple frame.

Math Fact Fluency
I am looking for a way to help the children become for fluent with their math facts. We tried a new website today called 99math. The children log in to the game with a game code. Each looks at his/her device and answers the math facts for 3 minutes. At the end of the 3 minutes, it gives them an individual score. I had them write down their score on a post it note to put in their school folder. I told them the next time I want them to try to beat their score. They seemed really excited!
Reading Class
Our reading story this week is Let’s Go to the Moon! On Monday, I read it to the class and we discussed it. On Tuesday, we read it together as a class and the children took turns reading one sentence at a time. Today, they read it in small groups read a page at a time.
