In writing class the children were learning about the sequence words first, next, then, and last. They worked in groups to write directions for how to do something. I let them walk around and discuss their ideas and they choose their groups. They wrote about how to build a sandcastle, carve a jack-o’ lantern, make a paper bird, and build a house.

Today in computer class, the children were practicing their high frequency words on the Spelling City website.
The farmer was trying to take the turkeys’ feathers. If he plucked the turkey’s feather , then the turkey had to go to the side and do some exercises before he or she could get it back.
The children have been learning about Native Americans. We started about learning about the different kinds of homes they had and why. We then talked about their use of horses and canoes. Lastly, we have been leaning about totem poles. The children were asked to chooses four animals from a given selection and write a story about them. They wrote a rough draft. I corrected the spelling and grammar. They were then asked to write a final draft. When that was complete, they colored the animals and glued them on a pole. Here are some pictures of them working.
